Mirring Aboriginal Corporation

Mirring has maintained a high profile as the Darkinjung Aboriginal women’s group since 2003. Mirring has moved from a Nation based (Darkinjung) focus to embrace a national membership due to our extensive partnerships across the country.

Mirring’s strengths have sustained through the dedication of our members to embrace respect, cultural integrity, sisterhood and reciprocity. Our reputation for inclusiveness, cultural education, cultural safety through holding regular gatherings, cultural events and weekend healing camps has kept our corporation vital. Mirring has developed many collaborations and partnerships with other Aboriginal women’s groups and individuals across Australia, particularly across NSW and NT. We have also developed strong collaborations with large service providers, not-for-profit and government to address nation-wide Aboriginal women’s issues such as domestic violence that have produced positive outcomes for our women and attracted national media attention. Mirring has grown to welcome members outside of the Darkinjung region therefore, embracing the strength of women from many nations.

We are now seeking to establish our own Women’s Place, a special property to provide a meeting place to centralise our administration, hold our cultural courses, cultural gatherings and a keeping place for our cultural land practices and artefacts. We are strong women from many nations that come together in sisterhood to pass on cultural knowledges to our children, families and our broader communities.
